beardedtek | Listening to today's LAN and I really really hope this is just a summer break. If there's anything we as a community can do to help in these tough times, let us know. Personally, contributing money is just not in the budget, but any services, moderation, or just jokes to make you guys laugh a little are all well within my realm. I've tried to tell you guys this often, but my passion for Linux was restored because of Jupiter Broadcasting. I support your decisions 100% and pray for the network's future. Seriously, DM me, ask for my number, run anything by me if you think it might help you guys out. | 18:13:33 |
freekvh | In reply to @beardedtek:beardedtek.comI don't mean to speak for JB bit it's probably just money man, a person's got to eat ;) but the more fans, the more fans with money. So spread the word, keep the community alive and welcoming, give feedback, basically: keep it up. It's appreciated by any community member, disposable income or not. | 18:32:43 |
beardedtek | That's true, but the whole value 4 value philosophy holds true. If there's a service or something they'd normally have to pay for that I could do, I'm all for it. Value comes in many forms. | 18:34:02 |
freekvh | I've though about it, also offered it at times. I think we in general underestimate the scale of the JB operation by a large margin. Anything we can do that matters will probably be costly, or a very very large time investment. But maybe you can come up with something, idk. I share your sentiment. | 18:46:37 |
freekvh | And I bet it's appreciated | 18:46:59 |

freekvh | Money is the combined small efforts of all fans, and does not require any coordination. I think of it this way, if there are 10.000 fans and they all want do do something but need 10-30 min of explaining. It's insane. Listen on fountain, boost the sats to JB ;) Maybe a time will come when you have some money to spare. Or not. | 18:53:23 |
freekvh | Idk, I bet the crew has spend a lot of time thinking of something smart, something worthwhile. | 18:54:12 |
beardedtek | Thats very true. | 18:59:55 |
@hank:myportal.social | Even though I really don’t listen to anything besides Coder Radio any longer, it’s just not doing it for me, I’ve been keeping up my full subscription since I know times are tough | 20:17:38 |
freekvh | People change, times change, you gain some you lose some. I for one have listened to almost everything since early LAS. Still enjoy it all as much as ever. | 20:29:14 |
skoobasteeve | Pulling for you guys! Love the show but you gotta do what it takes. Will keep supporting in the mean time. | 22:40:16 |

magnolia_mayhem | In reply to @freekvh:matrix.orgGreat part is, whatever gets worked out can benefit smaller podcasts as well. | 07:23:31 |
freekvh | In reply to @ashinnv:matrix.orgThe value being created by JB is indeed enormous. | 07:28:35 |

freekvh | It is because they don’t just make a podcast, they make a podcast from a consistent philosophy about technology and what they (and me) believe to be fundamental human rights: Privacy and access to value (such as software and knowledge). Us humans fall for the “it’s free” trap all the time. But we pay with our eyeballs glued to screens filled with ads, we pay with subtle changes in our behavior triggered by subtle messages in platforms that want us to chase cars and clothes, working jobs we hate, so we can buy shit we don't need to impress people we don’t like. JB is an island of relieve, true to us and to themselves, self-consistent, transparant, honest. Computers are our cerebral prostheses. They are deeply, deeply, deeply personal. My thoughts are my own. Not many people truly feel that, and understand how reality is shaped by these values. And how it is shaped without them if people like us don’t act for and in-line with those values. | 07:53:23 |

* CactiChameleon9 is sad at the news of "pausing" LAN..... | 10:28:55 | |
CactiChameleon9 | I don't have much to give at the momement, but I really wish I could support the network better during this hard time | 10:29:24 |
CactiChameleon9 | I do, however, support whatever decisions JB makes in order to stay afloat: One show is better than none | 10:30:22 |
