hritchie | adding to /etc/hosts fixes the issue on the mac (macos Catalina: 10.15.6) | 19:44:31 |
hritchie | but I do need to do this over the local network! I have been using the lan ip address, which is not working | 19:45:33 |
julianp | OK. Can you see anything when you access the app via http://<mac-os-local-lan-ip>:8000 ? Does the UI show up at all? | 19:49:02 |
julianp |
- If it does, and let's say the LAN IP address of your Mac is
192.168.0.10 then add 192.168.0.10 app.exosphere.localhost to /etc/hosts on the machine where you're running the browser
- If it doesn't, then make sure you're running Docker on the Mac in such a way that it exposes port 8000 on all interfaces (0.0.0.0), and allow incoming connections on the macOS firewall. Ensure that you see something when you browse to
http://192.168.0.10:8000 Then do step 1 above.
| 19:55:37 |
hritchie | oh, yes. 192.168.1.103:8000 loads the ui. And I'm able to log in and choose a project (Demo Project ). What I'm seeing next is failure to load "volumes" and a 500 response from proxy/v3/1b29b1a686d34c769b501e7dbb64765a/volumes/detail | 19:56:37 |
julianp | OK. Try step 1 above then. | 19:56:59 |

julianp | Ah. And cmart just reminded me that the CCP doesn't work with Tombstone. We have an open issue about it. Please try the Jetstream account details I just sent you. | 19:57:57 |

hritchie | ah, well then. But I should mention that your suggestion of putting the mac's ip in /etc/hosts on the other machine works like a charm. +10 cleverness points to Julian! | 20:02:16 |

cmart | good morning | 17:11:31 |
julianp | Morning! | 18:08:22 |
cmart | what are you up to today? | 18:15:44 |
julianp | At the moment I’m doing janitorial work for David & Tyson, while listening to Globus conference in background.
Will pick something meaty from Exosphere stack later today. | 18:21:35 |
julianp | I’ve been seeing commits on the floating IP address MR. Going well? | 18:22:14 |
cmart | sort of. the API equivalent of openstack limits show --absolute always returns 0 for totalFloatingIpsUsed | 18:28:45 |
cmart | and this is an intended OpenStack bug by design | 18:29:07 |
cmart | so just means I need to count floating IPs instead | 18:29:21 |
julianp | Hmm… That’s vexing. | 18:38:55 |
cmart | it's because it's a Nova API call that was made before nova-network was turned into Neutron | 18:39:33 |
cmart | * it's because it's a Nova API endpoint that was writte before nova-network was turned into Neutron | 18:39:44 |
cmart | * it's because it's a Nova API endpoint that was written before nova-network was turned into Neutron | 18:39:59 |
julianp | And I’m guessing Neutron doesn’t have an equivalent? | 18:44:28 |
cmart | not to tell you how many IPs you've used 🙂 just to tell you how what your limit is | 18:45:06 |
julianp | Got it. | 18:51:37 |

julianp | I'm thinking of tackling https://gitlab.com/exosphere/exosphere/-/issues/441 | 00:20:20 |
cmart | i'm into it, although i don't think one merely "tackles" that.. needs design/scoping work | 00:22:44 |
cmart | i'm into you leading that effort 🙂 | 00:23:22 |
julianp | Yup. It's going to take a while, probably a few iterations, but yes. | 00:24:04 |
julianp | Better get started! | 00:24:10 |
