richardheigl | In reply to @freephile:matrix.orgAny recommendations for Jira alternatives? We recommend EasyRedmine as a feature-rich solution and the German Zammad for companies with lower requirements. BTW an extension for Jira integration would be a step forward for the whole ecosystem. | 19:21:56 |
bryandamon | Probably a stupid question because I've never used Jira, but how difficult would it be to reproduce the major parts in MediaWiki? | 19:34:33 |
richardheigl | You can get a Jira system for free until 10 users. | 19:37:08 |
richardheigl | * You can get a Jira system for free until 10 users. It is worth to take a look. | 19:37:40 |
rundg | Jira (like any full-fledged issue tracker) is a complex software application. I don't think MediaWiki would be a good framework to try to reproduce the features and functionality. You could certainly create a "Lite" version of an issue tracker using MediaWiki | 20:01:25 |
rundg | The more interesting use case for MediaWiki is to integrate MediaWiki with popular issue trackers (even if that integration means a simple interwiki link table entry) so that it's easy to work with both tools in your environment. | 20:03:48 |
revi | At least I wish I could dynamically grab the object (ie. Task) title to MediaWiki... that would make life easier | 20:27:20 |
Charly | In reply to @bryandamon:matrix.orgIts in the list for the Content Services Platform Ad talked about at SMWCon, | 21:00:29 |
bryandamon | Well, that's great to hear! Thanks for the update Charly! I think I need to rewatch Ad's talk. | 21:02:15 |
Charly | Well it'll be a community effort so no decisions have been made, but we have build certain features for our customers already and I agree with Freephile also. So my thought would be to have the most functionality in the CSP and then also have the options to connect to other platforms for e.g. syncing and such. But again, its just in the list at the moment, nothing concrete. | 21:06:46 |
rundg | revansx: I seem to recall you worked out a (JavaScript) solution to intercept the 'Save' action in MediaWiki to catch a condition where the session was stale and thus the edit would be lost. As I recall, it would alert the user to copy/save their work or something. Does that ring a bell? | 21:59:45 |
revansx | yes. a JS timer recommending that the user do something (anythng) to communicate with the server to keep the session alive. Happily I don't need that anymore because I'm using SAML SSO and not CA Policy Agent (spits on the ground) | 22:27:05 |
revansx | basically I used a localsettings hook extension to add a hidden div to the page and a JS timer in Mediawiki:Common.js to un-hide it showing a notice and a ahref target=_new link to a page that would touch the server and then close | 22:29:35 |
revansx | now I have 19 hour long sessions 😀 | 22:30:20 |

hexmode | After someone posted to wikitech-l about https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki-Docker, I'm adapting it today for my percona work | 00:31:39 |
hexmode | well... for my mw dev wor | 00:31:48 |
hexmode | * well... for my mw dev work | 00:31:54 |
hexmode | but I like to do too much all at once (its my nature), so I'm adding Percona | 00:32:24 |
cicalese | I tried to get it working with MySQL last week unsuccessfully, so I'll be interested if you get it working. I'm sure it is possible, but I was trying to use it for something else and didn't have much time to invest in working on it. | 00:36:09 |
hexmode | Looking at https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/plugins/gitiles/operations/docker-images/production-images/+/12df179e5b7b1ccc2a35b1ff4978dbbc7359e1b1/images?autodive=0 (which does not appear to be the source, but might be useful) it looks like they don't have a DB image | 00:46:54 |
hexmode | Priming a DB image is tricky but let me try | 00:47:35 |
hexmode | (I did it before...) | 00:47:46 |
hexmode | cicalese: do you know the source for their jobrunner image? | 01:00:29 |
rundg | MediaWiki-Docker is about to get an update that unbreaks things and adds some long-awaited features https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T245444 | 01:17:31 |
rundg | In reply to @revansx:matrix.orgCan you send me the code? | 01:19:24 |
revansx | freephile, https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User:Revansx/Session_Notification_of_Renewal | 02:13:14 |
rundg | awesome! thanks | 02:14:13 |
revansx | It's been a long time since I used it. I hope it works as is for you | 02:14:49 |
revansx | The nice thing is that the JS is simple and you can tailer the message in LocalSettings. | 02:17:11 |
