@dr.crimson:matrix.org@dr.crimson:matrix.orgThe Cambridge dictionary shows that the word 'second' is divided as /ˈsek·ənd/, with the same syllable being /sek/ and the last /ənd/. My question is thus the following: Why does it happen ? Isn't it a violation of the Maximal Onset principle ? Why isn't the division something like /ˈse·kənd/, where the /k/ is the oneset of the following syllable ? 17:54:57
