David L | In reply to @0nn0:matrix.org Does anyone here have a Supermicro X11SDV-4C-TLN2 motherboard? That's a very specific question. Are you looking to buy one or something? | 00:21:59 |
Onno | I'm having problems with the onboard network card. It won't connect at 10 Gbit. I was wondering if this is a problem of my board, or if this is something others have experienced as well. | 00:24:01 |

Oscar | it might be your cable, a hw fault with the NIC, or something similar on the other side. is it fibre or copper? | 11:24:22 |
Onno | No it isnĀ“t the cable, I've tried 3 different ones | 13:14:37 |
Onno | copper | 13:14:44 |
Onno | And they're all rated Cat6A, so it's not that either | 13:16:10 |
ifiguero | I mean there best way to diagnose is to discard the possible causes. Like you already discarded the chance of it being the cable (assuming you tested them on another device that did work at 10Gbps).
Maybe there is a noise issue, like trying a avoiding crowded places or going nearby power sources. (I'm assuming UTP).
Then you should test another switch also to discard the switch is not doing something weird.
I use sfp for my 10Gbps but it has plenty of packet lost, probably will try to change the coper for fiber to see if it performs better. | 13:51:57 |

Onno | There are other devices in the same rack that do get 10G | 14:12:09 |
Onno | I'd use SFP is that was still a thing on motherboards, but it is not | 14:13:01 |

I've been running a 10Gb network with Opnsense stably for a few months with it | 15:26:47 |
Onno | Hmm. Mine used to connect at 10Gbit, but now it won't. | 15:27:54 |

a_n_d_y | At one point it was only negotiating at 1G to my Mikrotik, but a quick reboot fixed it and I haven't seen it since | 16:03:11 |

David Hubbard | Hey, can I get some help plumbing in a GPU to a 2U server? You know those 1x PCIe risers via usb? Is there something that can do 8x PCIe electrical / 16x physical? | 16:16:34 |
