I once accidentally said I'm going for "work" which involved a lot of back-peddling. And another time we had to do the same thing providing a letter to the border guard, but the border guard said it means nothing to him and wanted to hear me explain it in my own words, he then yelled at me for about a solid 10 minutes, and when he eventually realized he was in the wrong he let me go. I’ve been doing web dev with WSL, NodeJS, WebStorm, Docker, and MicroK8s for a little over a year now at work. AMA. 😁
Biggest issues we’ve hit:
- Docker installed in WSL, and Docker Desktop installed in Windows at the same time gets a bit wonky. We solved it by installing only in WSL
- In order to use `localhost` from a browser in Windows to something hosted in the WSL installed MicroK8s, we’ve had to do some manual port forwarding in an admin powershell. Best we can tell, mirrored networking supposedly fixes this, but it hasn’t worked for us yet.
- Every now and again, we get an error about our user not having permissions to run WSL. I think this is more of an issue with how our IT has setup accounts, than a problem with WSL itself. Can be fixed by running `Restart-Service vmcompute` in an admin Powershell. | 16:49:43 |
