chrislas | IDK | 15:05:45 |
chrislas | Tbh, there is a high personal cost to me for every @ | 15:05:59 |
chrislas | I am ether working super hard and focused, and get interrupted. Or I step away for a couple hours to take a breather, and I get buried. | 15:06:32 |
chrislas | I am starting to fantasize about cutting off all means of communications with me in general. | 15:06:53 |
chrislas | I just don't scale. | 15:07:01 |
chrislas | So while I agree w/you that members SHOULD have that system.. The tech is not there. | 15:07:32 |
chrislas | Every system but the Boosts ends up into a spiral of me becoming overwhelmed and resentful. | 15:07:57 |
chrislas | And like my god, if I try and take a day or two off, it's total circus. | 15:08:21 |
SohamG | That is completely fine, it would be a nice to have but I can live without it. My priority is helping coder stay on the air and not have to go away due to lack of sponsors | 17:30:06 |
SohamG | Personal health over everything | 17:30:26 |
@mooshuxs:matrix.org | In reply to @sohamg2:matrix.orgI want to point out the lightning network is an open source project which is decentralized. I support we’re comparing it with the federal Reserve system which is centralized and has unfairness built in. Part of the reason JB exists is to promote decentralization and open source software. We’re all entitled to our opinions. The main issue i see with the LN is complexity, but many techies have navigated it. It’s not that everyone has to and as a supporter of JB, i feel a connection with all other supporters. As a supporter I thank you for also supporting JB. I’m a little curious as to the problem you noticed about the LN but also respect your privacy on this matter if you don’t have time or don’t want to discuss it | 21:03:58 |
@mooshuxs:matrix.org | The default legacy system also includes point of sale, credit, debit which collect fees and have other issues too | 21:17:06 |
SohamG | Well before we get technical I guess im a no coiner since I don't think annonymous unregulated "currency" is a good idea. Apart from that LN has been plagued with coin-stealing vulns and even the original authors said it was intended for BTC txns with a "trusted" second party. It still triggers many on chain txns which will eat up your money in fees. Forget about scaling to Visa/mastercard levels of scale with 7 txn per block. The obscene amounts of complexity is just the cherry on top. | 22:31:55 |
SohamG | In reply to @mooshuxs:matrix.orgI think L2 is far too much complexity for not enough result especially in terms of "solving" L1 problems. (forgot to click reply for prev msg) | 22:32:52 |
SohamG | I could actually make it work even with this if it wasnt prohibitevely complex to onboard. I for eg am in USA for university so I dont have US IDs (state ID, driver license) and my home country is hell bent on putting all exchanges/apps out of business. So overall the math just doesnt add up | 22:36:59 |
@mooshuxs:matrix.org | In reply to @sohamg2:matrix.orgThanks, i was really curious. A lot of JB people in the bitcoin and Alts room are bitcoin maximalist with a tentatively dim view of coins that are governed by a core group and that have a premine that can be pumped and dumped. The recommendation from JB has been not keeping more in Lightning than you can afford to loose. A lot of people cannot afford to loose very much. But the hard thing is getting it setup. Then may understanding and keeping Lightning liquid. The issue with identification is really hard. I haven’t set up lightning myself but the identification issue sounds like it could prevent getting going. If that’s not correct, maybe someone will post. Thanks for explaining | 22:53:43 |
