diegopau | froggy77 I wouldn't know how to write a script for Gimp anyways :). Do you mean the colors in a screenshot of the emulator playing the game are different from what you get dumping the VDP? I noticed that too, i suspect that the game applies a filter on top of the whole screen to saturate colors more and add a bit of brightness maybe. Actually with the colors I drove myself a bit crazy because different emulators show different colors, both on the VDP and during gameplay... then I realized that I just don't want to be so accurate, I just try to have some fun with this and learn a bit of how to code in Solarus! | 13:21:39 |
diegopau | I made a video about the colors difference issue... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgubT90cW48 | 13:22:13 |

diegopau | thanks for taking the time to look into this | 13:23:24 |
froggy77 | Yes, the colors in a screenshot of the emulator playing the game are different from what you get dumping the VDP. | 13:23:28 |
diegopau | I guess I could do the same and apply a filter with Solarus for the full screen to try to achieve similar saturation if I want to do so in the end... | 13:24:13 |
Wasps | Have you tried python's pillow library? Its very good for image manipulation | 14:09:25 |

Wasps | Its weird that the bmp isn't openable in gimp | 14:09:55 |
froggy77 | Redacted or Malformed Event | 15:24:01 |
froggy77 | No, I have never tried the python's pillow library, but it looks complicated on Windows. And yes, it's weird not being able to open a bmp file with Gimp. But, it's only with bmp generated in VDP option, not with with screenshot option. Gimp displays a message when I'm opening the image: ..."is not a valid BMP file". If I open it and save it with Paint, Gimp opens the image but with this message: "Calling error for procedure 'gimp-image-set-resolution': Image resolution is out of bounds, using the default resolution instead." Even ImageMagick cannot open it. I have reinstalled Gimp. | 15:25:04 |
Wasps | Try Irfan view. It detects the type of image and is very fast. Maybe it's actually not a bmp | 15:39:00 |
diegopau | it is a bit strange that Gimp doesn't open it. I have quite a few other image editors and viewers and all open them, but yes, gimp also gives an error for me. It opens with paint.net, irfan view, FastStone, aseprite | 15:45:44 |
diegopau | Download unknown.png | 15:46:23 |
diegopau | FastStone shows this properties of the image so it seems to detect it as BMP | 15:46:23 |
Wasps | The pro of using pillow is that you can convert any pic to a variable with rgb values and convert it back to any common image format (jpeg, png, webp, etc). It can read any image data. | 15:49:58 |
