@sunep:matrix.orgsunepI myself was considering multiple ideas. But as the situation is in regards to coronavirus and me being in a risk group, I will probably not be able to attend physically unless a vaccine will appear by a miracle. So I hope there will be an online version of NODE20 as it will pain me to miss a NODE. 17:18:03

@zeos_:matrix.orgzeos_I was thinking to propose to show my last work "BOREOUT", an installation driven by boredom, using an EEG headset .... however, I do not know if there will be an exhibition, since my work is participatory and has to happen in real space, by taking care of all necessary sanitizing after each participant, I do not know now what's possible. 17:26:37

@davidbrrrr:matrix.org@davidbrrrr:matrix.org sunep: of course this is totally on the radar 17:28:36
@davidbrrrr:matrix.org@davidbrrrr:matrix.org zeos_: please get in contact with jeanne concerning the exhibition. The tricky part about live participation onsite is of course that nobody will give us the guarantee that the event can actually happen.. this makes it incredibly complex and risky to plan ahead for live performances that require real space interactions 17:31:43

I will write to her, tomorrow ;) and stay positive. However, I can also think of presenting remote, my other project #BIOCOIN: making music out of bacteria grown on money :-) kind of fits our reality

@davidbrrrr:matrix.org@davidbrrrr:matrix.orgWe work on a hybrid environment. Live and Virtual at the same time. Bringing the online audience into the space and the space back to the online crowds.. Ideally one can decide later if they want to come to frankfurt to join the event and meet in person or stay safe at home beeing connected to the event.. thats the goal. I have to go to the online meetup now17:35:39

@room I would be very curious what you think are the main reasons why this years call for workshops did not find a proper response until now.. was it mainly due to corona which hit us basically right after the call? Or what is the overall concern here?

for me it was a combination of a lack of time as well as being not sure what will be possible due to the corona-situation travelling-wise. right now it is really hard to plan for anythings that is more than one month in the future.

furthermore, a workshop for an online audience is different to teaching in class and i did not have a mind yet to think about what this actually means for topics i'm considering to offer. however, it would probably be a good idea to roll the drums once more and clarify that node20 will happen in a hybrid form and what kind of workshop formats will be possible.

@u7angel:matrix.orgwirmachenbunthello, two things. i find proposing a workshop quite hard because the situation with beta and gamma is confusing. proposing a beta workshop feels wrong since it isn't promoted as the tool to use anymore (by the vvvv group). and proposing a gamma workshop does not work due to no 3d render engine and little experience.07:27:56
@u7angel:matrix.orgwirmachenbunt concerning a virtual NODE20 workshop, although i enjoy teaching online right now, Node was always about meeting ppl in person. thats the quality of node. we have lots of virtual inbetween the festival editions and its not attractive to think of another online teaching. 07:30:57
@u7angel:matrix.orgwirmachenbuntthis maybe someting nobody wants to hear but i would postpone the festival until the corona situation is solved and xenko had some time as a public integration in gamma so ppl can get used to it. it doesnt make sense to me if this is only accessable to a exclusive group of ppl until Node2007:35:01

it's a pitty that we didn't manage to communicate this better. But if you only look at the technical aspects you will see that vvvv beta and vvvv gamma benefit from our work on VL. there are libraries popping up that were realized with VL and come with node sets for beta and gamma. there is even some vvvv beta specific stuff coming up like a new contribution manager that should make it much easier to setup the system. the installer for vvvv beta is another thing that happened on that "product line". So as it is true that our hopes and wishes regarding a pure VL based system are high, we always made sure that vvvv beta benefits from our developments. So I would argue: whatever works. If the current state is having two systems where one isn't quite replacing the other, then I say use vvvv beta. Tha's what I would tell a user that knows beta well. However regarding workshops: It does feel a bit weird to teach vvvv beta without mentioning VL and teaching both at the same time is probably overwhelming. So yes. it is tricky
