mp3@lemmy.ca | ie: the UI should show you which languages are available prior to posting, the community should also visually indicates which languages are enabled somewhere in the sidebar, etc. | 16:48:58 |
mp3@lemmy.ca | One of the reason why we decided not to push languages restrictions at the instance/community level, the UX is not good enough. | 16:50:32 |
Kalcifer | In reply to @m-p-3:matrix.org You can in fact limit the available languages for posts and comments in a community. Ah okay so the issue is more with the Lemmy UI not providing the user with an error saying that a specific language isn't allowed, or that only one language is allowed. | 19:13:46 |

Kalcifer | What's up with this post (First is how it looks on SJW, second is how it looks on ml):
| 23:29:31 |
Kalcifer | the SJW version has no upvotes, and no comments. | 23:29:43 |
Kalcifer | I find it unlikely that all the upvoters on that post are blocked on SJW | 23:30:04 |

InEnduringGrowStrong | Federation only happens when there's at least one local person subscribed to said remote community. There might not have been at the time.
You can kinda force sync stuff by using the local search box and the original remote URL, but then you might end up with partial stuff where you have the post, but not the comments. (Although you could also do this with the comments)
Why there isn't an easier way to force sync past content, I do not know. | 00:13:51 |
InEnduringGrowStrong | I managed to sync one comment from thsi post this way, but the others are children of deleted comments so that might not help | 00:20:56 |
InEnduringGrowStrong | This post had no comments on its local SJW version until I manually searched for each comment's url (from the little rainbow fedi logo)
https://sh.itjust.works/post/18264438 After using the searchbox for all comments, they do show.
My guess is that content might have been published before local users subbed. | 00:31:08 |

Ah, that's very interesting. I didn't know that federation worked like that. That's good to know.

blaze | In reply to @thedude.itjustworks:matrix.org Hey all, I've completed the code review of v19.5. My next part is to review my checklist and get the plan in order. Once that's done I'll make an announcement with the upgrade date to give everyone a heads up. Thanks for all your patience on this Hello,
Do you have any update on this by any chance? 😄

Hello,
Do you have any update on this by any chance? 😄
Hi there, I just got back from vacation and did not want to do any upgrade before I left. Now that I'm back I will be scheduling it within the next two weeks | 16:50:55 |
blaze | Great, news, I hope you enjoyed your vacation! | 17:23:37 |
