Feels like the goal of a homeserver listing is to provide reputable homeservers, not content moderation. But it is their list I guess.
And you have open registrations with just a capture...

What's the gold standard in that regard? I used to run matrix-registration, before I decided to close registrations.
08:32:29
@fenuks:sibnsk.netFеnикs [sibnsk.net]Not sure if there's any 'golden standard' there. If you intend to keep your server public for people, there will still be people who couse trouble. All you can do is slow down registration so it will not escalate faster then you can react. But at some point it can become to much for most people to bother with during registration. Most of the time 'too much for people who just need a messanger' is not nearly enough of a deterrent for 'people who come to spoil the party'.08:43:49
@fenuks:sibnsk.netFеnикs [sibnsk.net]Also, all of the options one can use currently have downsides that are hard to compensate. For example, e-mail validation is a rather weak barrier. There are numerous e-mail providers that do not verify anything themselves, they come and go, trying to create and keep up to date a list of such unreliable e-mail domains is a full time job. And restricting registration to only a handful of domains will greatly limit who can/would register on your server, but still only be a minor barrier against someone who wants to do harm, as registration on gmail is rather simple.09:42:27

@fenuks:sibnsk.netFеnикs [sibnsk.net]¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Anyone running their own e-mail server are would be the first ones to get filtered out by any and all e-mail validation.09:44:47

@fenuks:sibnsk.netFеnикs [sibnsk.net]Captcha works, somehow. There's only google captcha 'natively' supported, which is a limiting factor. Also, I'm not sure why captcha works, maybe because everyone is used to it and does not mind it too much. I'm seing people trying 2-3 times to go through it.09:55:31

I would agree, but not that many people actually use e-mail today, even if they have one. It has proven to be one of those things that scare people away.
09:58:41
@fenuks:sibnsk.netFеnикs [sibnsk.net]Their point being — we need a messanging app to not use the slow and 'formal' e-mail!09:59:16

Yes, it does but that's their loss then, not mine.

So, yes, there is that. Your homeserver, your rules.
