.casenc | * My language(s) are European, use the latin alphabet, and I think most of the people in my class would give you an Index Error if you tried to fit them into ascii | 09:16:16 |
.casenc | Nope, south west :3 | 09:16:23 |
loke | "correct", as in any characters above ASCII will cause the test to return false? | 09:16:27 |
Kamila | no, you'd need to do something like | 09:16:39 |
loke | For a palindrome check, I'm OK with having "something else" mean "error out". :-) | 09:17:02 |
Kamila | uhh, how do you trigger this bug... | 09:17:15 |
loke | In reply to @_discord_328851809357791232:t2bot.io Nope, south west :3 Portugese? | 09:17:45 |
Kamila | e.g. take 0xCE 0xBB as an encoding for lambda | 09:17:53 |
Kamila | then if you have some sort of a broader codepoint that encompasses this codepoint | 09:18:09 |
Kamila | and then in the other string you add remaining crust back | 09:18:17 |
.casenc | Pretty much (it's in my discord bio) | 09:18:25 |
loke | I don't have a discord | 09:18:34 |
.casenc | Does the bridge handle || spoiler syntax properly? | 09:19:01 |
Kamila | then they are anagrams but they're not actually anagrams because one has a lambda and the other doesn't | 09:19:02 |
Kamila | * then they are anagrams according to the algorithm but they're not actually anagrams because one has a lambda and the other doesn't | 09:19:17 |
dzaima#8664 | yes | 09:19:33 |
.casenc | Neat-o It's Catalan (implies also Spanish names) | 09:20:06 |
loke | I used to spend my summers in French catalonia. Early on, there were plenty of older people speaking it. These days, not so much. | 09:23:36 |
loke | Then you go to Andorra, and there's a lot of it spoken. | 09:23:57 |
.casenc | They still speak Catalan in Andorra? :0 | 09:35:48 |
.casenc | (genuinely surprised) | 09:35:57 |
loke | It's the official language. | 09:46:17 |
.casenc | Sure, and so is Aranès in la Vall dAran | 09:57:46 |
.casenc | * Sure, and so is Aranès in la Vall d'Aran | 09:57:56 |
loke | My understanding (which could be wrong, I don't speak these languages) is that catalan is broadly understood and spoken, together with spanish and french. | 09:59:07 |
.casenc | I'm glad to hear that :D | 10:03:25 |
polylokh_39446 | there was an early trend of programming languages being very very strict about Unicode by default. To get a Perl program to just sling bytes around and not error out was a minor challenge. But then the result of this was that jabber servers in production would start crashing because someone sent an emoji of an alligator down the wire, and that trend reversed quite a bit.
I see that as a minor upside to Unicode's instability. | 14:03:17 |
