I had a similar problem as well. No solutions though
Ok. I was asking because maybe it is had an easy solution caused by me wrongly using the package. when I get a little more time, if no solution was found, I'll dig a little bit in it and try to debug and find the problem. I forgot to mention, but I had success connecting to public matrix.org server. It's something related to connecting to my server only.

Possibly caused by connecting to the wrong host address, maybe your domain's DNS is not configured properly for Matrix.

But it works on element. Or matrix.el expects some extra configuration that I'm missing?

This client attempts to follow the spec for detecting matrix servers with DNS records. You can see in the source code, it's very simple, so you can compare the records manually and see if they appear correct. Other people use this client with their own homeservers, so I don't know why it wouldn't work for you.

Ok. Thanks. I'll look into that and search for the problem. I'm not putting aside some wrong dns missing on my part. 😉

Can't be sure. I setup the server a while ago, at the time I did every tests for the federation and it worked, I left it working and did not need to change anything until today. I could be missing that, I'll search for that too.

I forget what the alternative is, but I think it might be preferred.

Maybe give the federation tester a go?

@alphapapa:matrix.orgalphapapaSee https://federationtester.matrix.org/api/report?server_name=matrix.luiscarlospereira.pt15:06:08
@easilok:matrix.luiscarlospereira.pteasilok

now that I'm reading the docs, I might not have the well known server hints, because when I installed I read this line on their files:

If your homeserver's APIs are accessible on the default federation port (8448) and the domain your server_name points to, you do not need any delegation.

So I assumed I didn't need one at the time.

@alphapapa:matrix.orgalphapapaNote that the report says that both well-known and SRV are not found15:07:01
@alphapapa:matrix.orgalphapapaNote as well that you included matrix. in the hostname rather than only the TLD15:07:58

yes, that's because that server serves other applications, and I use each subdomain for each application.

That seems to defeat the purpose of well-known and SRV records ;)

hum, I'm learning some of this things on my own, that's actually why I setup private installations of these applications to test and learn. That's actually some things that I did not yet study about, so you gave me some study subjects now. Thanks.

somewhat random/tangential, but I thought I saw a vitabrevis in this room (maybe was just vito...)

I'm confused, I guess I lack the reference.
