@mammal:private.coffee | Any expected date of new release for connect you (with dailer, etc) | 04:30:24 |
ducklipsndeuces | In reply to @mammal:private.coffee Any expected date of new release for connect you (with dailer, etc) Not at this time. Iirc, the You apps were a side/pet project started from the personal needs/uses of the devs themselves and were just kind enough to share. I believe they've grown busy with school, jobs, life, etc. | 04:56:03 |

ducklipsndeuces | In reply to @mammal:private.coffee I thought they are going to build their suite as alternative to google, fossify, etc 😅 I don't want to speak for the devs, this is just what I recall as being the case for these apps. They work on them when they can/want. | 04:59:48 |

ducklipsndeuces | In reply to @mammal:private.coffee I thought they are going to build their suite as alternative to google, fossify, etc 😅 If you're handy with a computer and can follow simple build instructions (easily googled, or even guessed at through menu options), one can feel free to compile the apps themselves using the live code (which can often have newer features committed to it than were included in the most recent releases). | 05:08:01 |
ducklipsndeuces | In reply to @khalidduel:matrix.org That's ok For instance, gauging by the commit history of connect you (https://github.com/you-apps/ConnectYou), it appears there is basic dialer functionality merged into the code. I think the devs just have particular testing and quality requirements they adhere to prior to publishing official releases. | 05:09:29 |
ducklipsndeuces | Their projects (in my experience) have been very clean and easy to compile "out of the box", using android studio (which is also free). | 05:10:29 |
Khalid Duel | Will they accept pull requests if I add a new feature like this? | 05:12:37 |
ducklipsndeuces | In reply to @khalidduel:matrix.org Will they accept pull requests if I add a new feature like this? They've accepted mine in the past, and I believe they welcome any and all new contributions. https://github.com/you-apps/VibeYou/pull/68 | 05:14:20 |
ducklipsndeuces | But again, it depends upon their schedule and availability, to do the merges. | 05:15:05 |
Khalid Duel | Is there a good place to learn koltin? I have been wanting to learn for a while. | 05:15:36 |
ducklipsndeuces | In reply to @khalidduel:matrix.org Is there a good place to learn koltin? I have been wanting to learn for a while. "By just doing it" is what I've been told in the past. I recommend looking at "atomic kotlin", it's material created by the main devs behind the creation of kotlin itself: https://www.atomickotlin.com/ | 05:18:08 |
ducklipsndeuces | There's also "head first kotlin", which is another popular learning material: https://www.oreilly.com/library/view/head-first-kotlin/9781491996683/ | 05:19:14 |
ducklipsndeuces | But mainly, just contributing to code via github and the like, seeing existing projects code and gaining experience by their example, is kind of how bnyro has referred to me in the past (loosely paraphrasing, please don't quote me on that). | 05:20:56 |
Khalid Duel | Ok | 05:21:11 |
Khalid Duel | Thank you so much for the help! | 05:26:20 |

This is the complete, official course for Android development with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. It's free and you don't need any prior programming knowledge. You just need time and motivation...

ducklipsndeuces | Does anybody know if there's some kind of "f.lux" implementation either in an open source android app or built-in to the Android OS itself? Idk what I'm looking for. Totally unrelated to "you" apps, just trust the community here above others I would think to ask. Mods, feel free to delete as "unrelated" or whatever. | 03:14:56 |
