Refaat Mohammad Alamgir | question regarding shared task 2 (educational materials) -
can anyone provide me with a glossary that explains the abbreviations used in the "Change" column?
for e.g. i', having trouble understanding what "ASPECT: IPFV", "TENSE:IPFV_PROG", etc. means
TIA | 15:06:34 |
spectie | IPFV = imperfective | 15:39:00 |
spectie | IPFV_PROG = imperfective progressive | 15:39:16 |
spectie | probably you can find the descriptions in the unimorph docs | 15:39:26 |

Katharina | Dear all, I’ve just added a list with the meanings of the changes to the github README: https://github.com/AmericasNLP/americasnlp2024/tree/master/ST2_EducationalMaterials
(Note that our tags are not necessarily the same as UniMorph — neither is the task exactly the same as inflection in context 🙂 ) | 20:41:00 |

Andrés Lou | Hi, does anybody know if there's a LaTeX template to be used for submissions for the workshop? | 13:51:04 |
Shruti Rijhwani | The NAACL 2024 template should work! | 21:16:24 |

Refaat Mohammad Alamgir | hello, thank you for providing the meaning of changes.
i have noticed that some of the same tags point to multiple descriptions.
for e.g.
'Negativa': 'NEG',
'Negativo': 'NEG'
_'Pretérito Reciente': 'PAS_REC', # Past recent_
_'Pretérito reciente': 'PAS_REC', # Past recent_
apologies if this seems obvious, but i was wondering why do multiple descriptions exist for the same tags? | 10:14:47 |
spectie | Because it includes both English and Spanish descriptions I'd guess | 12:24:41 |
spectie | And the descriptions haven't been normalised for case | 12:24:51 |
spectie | eg. Pretérito reciente = Pretérito Reciente = Past recent | 12:25:18 |
Katharina | That’s a good question! The datasets for the different languages come from different sources and didn’t use exactly the same original annotations; here, the description is basically the original annotation | 12:40:07 |
Refaat Mohammad Alamgir | that makes sense, thank you ! 😀 | 12:47:50 |

Refaat Mohammad Alamgir | Katharina follow up question : 'DES' tag appears under two categories. - MODE & ASPECT.
in the dataset, how will we understand if 'DES' under MODE category is being used or the one under ASPECT category?
this is the only tag that i found appearing under two different categories. | 06:42:59 |
