YOTAM GUTTMAN | just submitted to wallpaper designs. as far as I recall the deadline was for today?
https://gitlab.com/groups/fedora/design/-/epics/32#note_1846621356
it's linked to google drive unfortunetly because I still haven't figured out how to upload files to that repo. I've included the SVGs if someone wants to make some changes. would love to hear what you think | 15:32:28 |

Madeline Peck (she/her) | Nice! I’m cleaning up my files too so I’ll take a look and see about feedback/trying to upload them for you if I can swing it | 15:33:21 |

Justin W. Flory (he/him) | In reply to @yotamguttman:matrix.org sent an image. I am always going to be sentimental to hot air balloons in Fedora wallpaper thanks to Fedora 7. | 16:37:09 |

Justin W. Flory (he/him) | Also, I had a question that I was pondering, and I figure this is probably the best place to ask | 16:37:46 |
Justin W. Flory (he/him) | So, there are some repositories on Pagure that we use for our communication platforms like the Fedora Magazine and the Community Blog. They contain all the featured images that we produce for our articles. | 16:38:17 |
Justin W. Flory (he/him) | I want to give them a new home on GitLab instead of Pagure. | 16:38:34 |
Justin W. Flory (he/him) | My question is, would it be okay if I moved them to the Design Team group on the Fedora GitLab? I would still be on the hook for maintenance, but I thought it made the most sense to group them in the Design sub-team than somewhere else, because… well, they are repositories full of graphic design and artwork. | 16:39:18 |
Justin W. Flory (he/him) | Also, maybe I could join the Design Team officially in this capacity? I could lean into some of the energy here and try to involve others in the process. I know the Fedora Magazine and CommBlog could use it. | 16:39:53 |
Justin W. Flory (he/him) | I am thinking Madeline Peck (she/her) is the best person to answer this, but I'm not sure! | 16:40:47 |
rlengland | In reply to @jflory7:fedora.im So, there are some repositories on Pagure that we use for our communication platforms like the Fedora Magazine and the Community Blog. They contain all the featured images that we produce for our articles. If this includes the Fedora Magazine images, can we determine if this is needed? Do we know why we are saving the images that will be available on WordPress? We seem to rarely refer back to those images. I can only remember 3 or 4 times, maybe. | 16:45:28 |
rlengland | BTW I'm not adverse to keeping them, but all the Magazine info is in Pagure and this would mean we have to maintain access via two applications, (KISS comes to mind in our processes) | 16:47:27 |
Justin W. Flory (he/him) | rlengland: I think the best use case is for onboarding others and making this a visible contribution pathway. Admittedly, we were better about this circa 2016-2017, but not as much recently. When I was new contributor, I was mentored by the then Magazine editor on how to do them, and the huge repository of past featured images were useful for me to learn Inkscape and understand the quality standard for designs.
However, this could admittedly be something that I am holding onto from the past and it may no longer make sense.

Justin W. Flory (he/him) | rlengland: My hope with moving it into the Design Team workflow would be to encourage more contributions from this side of the house, instead of keeping it squarely in the Magazine end of things (which may or may not be where a graphic designer is drawn toward). But of course, some coordination would be needed because of different workflows, it is true. | 16:48:30 |

I think we should get @glb involved as well. | 16:52:50 |
Justin W. Flory (he/him) | Yeah. In hindsight, this should have started in #magazine:fedoraproject.org first! | 16:53:13 |
Justin W. Flory (he/him) | Want me to raise the topic there? | 16:53:24 |
rlengland | That would be a good idea, I think. | 16:53:38 |
Justin W. Flory (he/him) | On it | 16:53:43 |

Justin W. Flory (he/him) | In reply to @yotamguttman:matrix.org this was Madeline Peck (she/her)'s idea 😃 It pays homage to this old wallpaper, it would be an easter-egg for anyone who has been using Fedora for a long time :) | 16:57:25 |
YOTAM GUTTMAN | I wasn't aware of that wallpaper but the concepts can somewhat align in several fronts. it's quite cool :) quite crazy that we're reaching 40 now! | 17:01:14 |
