I guess for cleanup, a recommendation could (this is just an idea. maybe a bad or impractical one. But I'm just throwing it out there):
Create a cleanup poster. That gets hung up at a central location at 4-5pm when cleanup starts and clearly says in large bold letter that this poster shouldn't be removed during cleanup.
This poster lists all kinds of things that need to happen and where items have to. For example where to bring tables to, etc.
That central location in H for example is where the infodesk is. Same in K
U at the bottom of each staircase

Also: having velctro straps available to bundle the cables together during cleanup (mainly thinking of infodesk cables here) might be nice. That way they have less chance of getting tangled over time

Also, and this is just a question (prefer to ask it in here than in the busier #fosdem:fosdem.org channel:
If there wasn't a devroom for a certain thing. (Heard some people being upset there weren't devrooms for certain things including GEO/GIS)
I'm sure there's multiple reasons for that those not being a thing this year; But my question is: what's the main bottleneck?
Is it amount of volunteers, amount of staff, financial resources to rent the camera/Audio equipment, availabe rooms by ULB?

I guess the reason for not making the cleanup rostra public is - people will pick and chose what they want to do, and complete things in different orders. Makes it more likely that things will be forgotten or get lost.
Also timelines are fluid.
This is why we have our own internal checklists, which each building leader is responsible for.
For me as volunteer coordinator, I have an overview, minimum number of volunteers per building etc, then do dispatches based upon timeline and priorities coming in via radio.

Also one other thing: with the volunteering website, there is no way to see where a talk is.
So for example the heralding tasks, it would be nice if it also said (K1.105) in the title of the task for example.

  • Makes it easier to know which heralding tasks are where
  • In general just helps with having your personal schedule be more usable

@rorymac:matrix.orgrorymacCheeky ask... I was chatting on the Friday night build up with an extremely tall Dutch guy who works with windmills (yellow t-shirt, but wasn't staff). Ring any bells with anyone? Anyone know the guy's name?16:36:21

@lakor64:attendees.fosdem.orglakor64Hello, It was my first time volunteer and it went actually smooth at the info point (I definitely have to improve in English a bit). I do support the idea of a staff badge or something similar if it does include the languages as well, I saw it wasn't uncommon for foreign people to ask in their language of choice and I definitely saw some people that I could have helped with if they started to talk in their preferable language. I also wanted to ask about a part for something similar as the part in the Belgium hackerspace, where a bunch of people just joined In watching other people's doing (not a stand but something more like from the community). I think the cafeteria were also intended as something like that right ?23:01:10

Could you rephrase that last part? I'm confused what you mean exactly
