@_neb_rssbot_=40_milk_manz_jour_daddy=3amatrix.org:matrix.org | Copperhead posted a new article: CopperheadOS Release: Android 9 ( ) | 04:05:14 |

@MilkManzJourDaddy:matrix.org | @room: I saw someone post "RIP" about COS, maybe in #Cybersecurity:hackerspaces.be . Uh, huh. :-| That does not account for the announcement there, of an Android 9 release. :-| | 04:19:50 |

@MilkManzJourDaddy:matrix.org | Yes, well, there is still all the buzz from last summer, salty/butthurt stuff, and opportunistic trolls.
The only real question is if, from a privacy & security standpoint, is if COS is something you would want to use, compared to an OEM's Android, AOSP, Lineage, et cetera.
But I saw that a hikey board is supported, which piques my interest. | 11:35:55 |
@MilkManzJourDaddy:matrix.org | But ya', know, delete the signing keys and launch a sabotage campaign… IDK really as I was not in their offices, not privvy to their process. But loom at Apple®… The real genius was the Woz'. And yet without Jobs, the Woz' probably would have stayed at, IIRC, H.P. and there would have been no Apple®. | 11:41:12 |

@mntr0:matrix.org | i know that daniel mccay was in the right because i looked into it. you cannot trust anything that doesnt come from daniel. i wont say anything more because after being very vocal about it some people who i know are stuck in the middle asked me not to add any fuel to the fire, especially because i have a large supply of gasoline on this one. i am being nice here and i dont want to be nice about it, but daniel did the right thing and COS cannot be trusted. | 12:23:43 |
@lrvick:matrix.org | If your security model requires trust in any one person (be it COS CEO, a single engineer etc) it is going to burn you. Trust code you understand and builds you compile yourself or builds many people compiled and got the same hash. | 13:06:53 |
@lrvick:matrix.org | this is why I have not made a public release of #!os yet. Until it is fully deterministic and people can prove I am not sneaking in any code there is no reason for anyone to trust my signing keys | 13:08:00 |
@lrvick:matrix.org | But anyone is free to build for themselves with their own signing keys with one command for now | 13:08:20 |
