spamegg1 | Say I have a Scala-cli project open in VS Code with Metals. So a Bloop instance runs in the background. Then I use Scala-cli on the Terminal to compile something, on the side. (No active compilation going on in Metals, it's idle.) Does that "reuse" the existing Bloop instance or spawn a new one? | 13:43:40 |
Tomasz Godzik | It reuses it | 13:47:03 |
Tomasz Godzik | But not the main bloop which I must work on | 13:47:17 |
spamegg1 | Nice! | 13:47:34 |

andy.czerwonka | I seeing lots of problems for me with the new Metals 1.3.0. I've already logged one issue, but I'm wondering if it's my setup that's contributing to all the issue, Instead of inundating with a bunch of Githugb issues, I thought I'd mention it here. | 23:17:41 |

ashwin1899 | hi, I upgraded to metals 1.3.0 and scala-cli to 1.2.2. Now my scripts don't have a "run" button when opened in VS code (with metals extension). But I do see the "run" button for ".scala" files.
My set up has a root directory which contains a project.scala file and many script (.sc) and scala (.scala) files. There are no sub directories.
I raised this issue on scala-cli discord. But they think this might be metals issue (with release 1.3.0). | 07:25:41 |

.phantomsnake | Will this configuration affect only where dependencies are pulled from? https://scalameta.org/metals/docs/troubleshooting/proxy/#mirrors | 19:07:54 |
.phantomsnake | I am behind a company proxy and the metals extension is trying to download coursier. It fails because it is blocked. | 19:08:36 |
Tomasz Godzik | If you have JAVA_HOME variable set it should not try to download anything | 20:34:25 |
Tomasz Godzik | It seems we can't detect java any other way so we try to download them via coursier | 20:35:28 |
Tomasz Godzik | I think we also try to find java on PATH | 20:35:50 |
.phantomsnake | I have jdk17. Do I need 11? | 21:55:59 |
.phantomsnake | I've never used metals with coursier before. | 21:56:24 |
Tomasz Godzik | 11 and up I should say | 22:07:52 |
Tomasz Godzik | Do you have java home set? Is the java on path! | 22:08:33 |

spamegg1 | Today I restarted an extension. It was an icon theme that was updated. It didn't reload the window (due to VSC recent change), but it did trigger a Metals restart, reindexing and reevaluation of my worksheet. Is that expected? | 15:10:36 |
