NOT_BATFE | A special kind of chalk round… 10” long… | 19:09:26 |
NOT_BATFE | For 5” shells, has a simple impact fuse train to set off a small amount of fffg to disperse the chalk into a nice poof | 19:10:36 |

RogueDesigns | I can see after setback force is gone, the spring will kick the firing pin back into the primer almost instantly | 08:57:19 |
RogueDesigns | Did you test this | 08:57:30 |
NOT_BATFE | In reply to @goonguns:matrix.org I can see after setback force is gone, the spring will kick the firing pin back into the primer almost instantly The spring is there to help ensure the “hammer” stays back until a hard impact, only then should it be applying force slamming forward onto the firing pin to strike the 209 primer. | 14:38:56 |

ehz115 | This would be glued together, and held back by a spring right? | 15:32:02 |
RogueDesigns | OHHH | 16:10:41 |
RogueDesigns | got it | 16:10:44 |
NOT_BATFE | In reply to @ehz115:matrix.org This would be glued together, and held back by a spring right? Nothing is glued together there, the firing pin is floating but doesn’t have much movement so it can’t build much momentum and it’s just a steel nail with a rounded point anyway so it’s not super heavy like say a tungsten rod. So it has to be struck reasonable hard by the “hammer” which is just a short piece of 1/2” round bar. The spring will keep it off the firing pin until impact… unless maybe you spiked it into the ground nose first lol. | 16:41:27 |

I guess MAYYYBE if you shook it vigorously and hard enough you might make the repeated small strikes from the floating firing pin set it off but…. You’d have to be trying to do that or just stupid as hell doing something dumb not respecting the fact it has a small dispersal charge in it. | 16:43:15 |
NOT_BATFE | Ideally I suppose if I can source the right nail the head of the nail would be a little wider than the spring so it wouldn’t even do the above… going through the spring “kit” you can pickup from HF, there’s a decent looking match up in there… | 22:21:36 |
NOT_BATFE | Pretty much at this point finding a nail locally like McMaster lists there is about all that’s stopping me from assembling and testing a round | 22:22:16 |
