Julian TΓΆlle | Happy to assist if anyone has trouble testing/deploying this. | 19:02:16 |
nsaika | Hey folks! π I've been chatting with other teams at Akamai/Linode about distributing Flatcar images internally through the existing VM infrastructure, and another possibility has come up. How would y'all feel about an "image marketplace" similar to AWS, where Flatcar images could be uploaded by yourselves? That would take myself, and any other Linode folks out of the critical path to releasing new versions. | 20:18:37 |

thilofm | Sounds good! Something to watch out for is automation - some marketplaces do not allow for fully automated publishing (though we tend to drive automation as much as we can). Ideally there's a Go SDK or similar available that lets us integrate publishing automation into our release process. | 07:09:58 |
tormath1 | Yes, that works. It's already the case with AWS Marketplace, it's automatically published at each release. https://github.com/flatcar/mantle/blob/flatcar-master/cmd/ore/aws/update-offer.go | 07:12:05 |
tormath1 | Thanks for updating your documentation. I gave a try and it works like a charm. SSH keys are loaded via Afterburn, metadata are here and Ignition is properly fetched. | 08:35:43 |

Jeremi | In reply to @dongsupark:matrix.orgWhy is cl.tpm.* failure expected from alpha? | 10:01:54 |
Jeremi | And "Disabled user-configdrive.service on OpenStack when config drive is used, which caused the hostname to be overwritten."? | 10:02:31 |
Jeremi | should be "when config drive is not used"? | 10:02:43 |
tormath1 | In reply to @jepio:matrix.orgbecause of the TPM socket path size | 10:08:53 |
Jeremi | :D | 10:09:00 |
Jeremi | ok makes sense | 10:09:08 |

Gabriel Samfira | although counter-intuitive, that message is correct. On OpenStack, if ignition is not used, cloud-init is started. Before that change, if config drive was used, both cloud-init.service and the user-configdrive.service unit would run. The user-configdrive.service unit would run even if ignition was used to configure the system, overwriting the hostname. Given that on OpenStack cloud-init is started anyway when ignition is not used, regardless of config drive, the user-configdrive.service made no sense. | 10:26:47 |
dongsupark | Set verdict to GO . Thanks! | 11:51:35 |
srust | is there a split between cloud providers offering flatcar in the marketplace, or as natively supported images? | 12:45:37 |
tormath1 | what do you mean by "a split"? It usually depends on "how" the cloud provider is designed and how the marketplace interacts with the provider itself. E.g: if an image is available on the marketplace can I deploy in the same way as the images available in the cloud provider catalog? | 14:43:44 |

Jeremi | We seem to be having some new fun with the falco test :) | 10:25:15 |
tormath1 | In reply to @jepio:matrix.orgfun that it appears at the same of the Slack question | 10:30:45 |
Jeremi | its even funnier because it worked yesterday when i ran falco on my kubernetes node | 10:31:13 |
tormath1 | In reply to @jepio:matrix.org* fun that it appears at the same time of the Slack question | 10:31:32 |
Jeremi | seems it got broken over the weekend | 10:32:22 |
Jeremi | we might be lucky:

Jeremi | so its the test that needs updating | 10:44:02 |
Jeremi | because they now use ebpf by default | 10:44:11 |
tormath1 | Various PRs have been merged - I will monitor the nightlies to see if it produces the Hetzner images as expected. According to the release planning, we should get Hetzner images for the Alpha and Beta in the next release. π₯³ Thanks a lot Julian TΓΆlle | 13:27:22 |
