scapegote | This shit seems increadibly based, but I had a few questions before implamenting. Do you fellows have any soft restrictions on content? In the current implamentation, is the server located anywhere or is it some kind of p2p set up? | 16:14:00 |

ophiuchus2 | I haven't set up a test server yet. Right now we just have a simple client/server architecture, the server can be deployed anywhere. We may do some kind of p2p in the future but it's not decided yet. Once it's ready i plan to deploy the initial release somewhere, but there is still some work to be done (mostly on the UI) and will likely be text only (no media). | 01:37:55 |
scapegote |
it will be text only
| 04:21:38 |
scapegote | whats the point then? wouldn't irc work just as well? | 04:21:57 |
ophiuchus2 | only the initial release will be text only, subsequent releases will include media, voice etc.. essentially any discord feature & more | 22:11:36 |

scapegote | I hope theres some way I can contribute to this eventually. I am too busy to >learn to code, but I would drop money in if my success in business realizes. this is the kind of platform that needs to be a thing. | 00:40:10 |

ophiuchus2 | thanks scapegote . I'm not too sure how to monetize it tbh. i will definitely set up some crypto donation accounts to cover hosting & other infrastructure costs once the initial release is ready | 00:05:52 |
scapegote | Thats the big problem imho | 01:11:49 |
scapegote | Spyware has changed drastically | 01:11:56 |
scapegote | there is now a public market for data so companies can afford to put more time and effort into their spyware, making them more feature rich and competitive than actually non malware products and programs | 01:12:31 |
scapegote | How do you monetize something for free? besides opt in I really dont know | 01:12:54 |
scapegote | I dont know much about computer programming magic. | 01:13:31 |
scapegote | nitro doesn't offer much that they didn't just arbitrarily gate, but people are willing to pay for it | 01:13:44 |
scapegote | having them (paid features) work on the main instance only via verified hash is an idea, but that requires centralization afaik, and theres no gaurentee it would be easy to do. | 01:14:33 |
scapegote | a lot of youtube alternatives will just never get off the ground due to lack of advertising needed to keep these content creators afloat | 01:15:19 |
ophiuchus2 | another problem with advertisers is they can dictate what content is allowed to be on the platform, constantly threaten to pull ads and essentially control the business | 01:22:18 |
ophiuchus2 | one idea i had was to offer paid content like nitro, but require users to pay with crypto tokens (ETH, ERC-20 tokens). the fee structure could be divided to incentivize hosting. for example, the "home" server could get 80% of the fees, 15% goes to all hosting providers collectively and the remaining 5% goes to token holders. | 01:28:11 |
