Hej, I'm figuring out my first synapse installation. I follow this great tutorial by natrius : I'm not so in to web servers. I don't get this part: https://www.natrius.eu/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=digital:server:matrixsynapse#step_2_-_install_synapse : Set up .well-known. At this point, I didn't install a web server yet (it's later: step 5).
Where's my mistake? Or better: where does this go?

    "m.server": "synapse.homeserver.example:443"
}```

I hoped

 Where / is the root of your webserver. So if you navigate to https://homeserver.example/.well-known/matrix/server it may try to download the server file or show it directly.

This helps? It does not?

This would clarify? It does not?

@hof:matrix.orgfelixafter installation of nginx - yes. but before? no idea... or ist there some kind of "dafault web server / default root"?14:05:05
@hof:matrix.orgfelixseems to work here: /var/www/html/.well-known/matrix/server - solved, I think.14:12:38

I think I pointed out this error to natrius earlier.

@natrius:matrix.orgnatriusFINALLY! I moved the .well-known after the nginx installation :)07:08:06
@natrius:matrix.orgnatrius Wouldn't it be better to move Step 4 after step 5? Because i'm using sudo certbot --nginx 07:09:25
