santtiavin | Are you guys getting the raspberry pi 5? | 16:18:28 |
santtiavin | I saw the 1b+ at a really low price but I don't know if it's worth getting it. | 16:22:15 |
rishabh@machine | i guess i found the way to become a 10x software enginerr | 18:01:10 |
rishabh@machine | * i guess i found the way to become a 10x software engineer | 18:01:12 |
bayindirh | Not at this time, because I have a couple of more powerful boards at hand. | 18:22:26 |
AP@NixOS | probably not, I have a RPi4 which is decent enough for what I might do with it | 18:49:33 |

sans.k | You need a blanket too in case it gets cold! | 20:07:48 |
salimp | how do you write software (what editor) when using those embedded device like SMT32, RPs. I used to use Clion and it has a good support but still you had to generate device specific code using their specfic software lile STMCubeMx and then open all that in Clion generates a CMake then you can code in your editor. I want to find a good way to do that in neovim. there is platformIO and it has vim integration https://docs.platformio.org/en/stable/integration/ide/vim.html | 20:45:45 |
santtiavin | Why does the Debian website looks so ugly? | 20:52:53 |

ace@machine | Functionality over beauty | 21:25:24 |
ace@machine | Also probably because it’s meant to work everywhere | 21:25:34 |
ace@machine | And also because it needs to work on a potato | 21:25:51 |

santtiavin | Tbh I just want to play around with it since I don't really know what I'm doing, maybe install pihole or something but I don't know much about networking though. | 23:31:28 |
santtiavin | I understand that, but compare that to the Fedora and Linux Mint websites. I kind of want to make make a redesign just for practice. | 23:32:32 |

ace@machine | I would say that’s good practice | 00:09:47 |
ace@machine | Just know Mint used a Bootstrap theme 😛 | 00:09:57 |
pickausername#7375 | Debian site is poorly designed but what do you expect from floss devs | 01:55:26 |
bayindirh | Are you aware how many subsystems and pages are under that seemingly simple website? | 06:19:39 |
bayindirh | Fedora and mint are considered babies age-wise when compared to Debian. So it’s tons of evolution over that simple website. Also that site hides a lot of integrated subsystems. | 06:21:08 |
Korven@??? | doesn't mean it can't be designed badly (not saying it is, but the thing holds) | 06:24:18 |
omster#5736 | never set foot in eastern estonia. worst mistake of my life. | 06:25:26 |
Korven@??? | | 06:25:36 |
bayindirh | The thing is, it’s an evolution of a very legacy website over 30 (?) years, IIRC. Try to rewrite that amount of legacy stuff, just for fun. Not gonna happen. | 06:26:24 |
Korven@??? | again, these things are orthogonal 🐧 wikipedia kept up | 06:27:23 |
