@darklight you would need an oracle source for the external data, there isn’t anything out of the box that does currently, but it would be cool. The Aragon Court that is planned might help as that could serve as a subjective oracle, but would require more than a single member dao as the expectation is that someone would be there to create a dispute as a counter party. Perhaps an app could integrate with chainlink, withnet, or oraclize to allow external data sources to be used in permissions.

Don’t need a court or oracle source, the data would come directly from your smart devices, if there was a dispute it would be with yourself and your smart device. For instance I was wanting to setup a smart scale, and some custom rules for a weight loss regimen.

@jvluso might be interested in this, as he has been doing a lot of thinking on using Aragon for personal/individual use-cases.

Yes, I think that is a huge growth area for that.

I think you probably would want some sort of recovery mechanism in place as your phone could break

16:03:44
@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot <lkngtn>

perhaps a social recovery option, so like if your scale/phone breaks, you can request 3 friends override for you

Further, it could be used with a small group of people you actually know, so you could setup custom rules for payouts on say weight loss competition, so you can tell if anyone is cheating.

Yes you could put in recovery options or just a shutdown clause for a fee. All the rules are made up by you, it is a voluntary agreement with yourself.

Basically need a way to get data in from connected devices, and an easy UI to write rules.

Sounds like an interesting project! 👍

Well that is why I came here, is it possible with Aragon, or close to poissible?

I think you would need to do some custom development, but you would get a lot of functionality for free. Definitely feels like a good use case to build on Aragon, but not something that currently works out of the box.

@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot <darklight>

I guess I can’t believe no one is working on something like that.

The EtherRide team did the opposite, they used a DAO transaction to trigger an API that opened a Tesla car door. Going the other way (using an API to trigger a transaction in a DAO) wouldn’t be too hard if you make the API device a member of the DAO and give it a private key. (or as Luke suggests, use an oracle in the device’s place)

16:13:08
@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot <darklight>

What about custom rules? So funds of the DAO get locked up, and it gets slashed if there is no weigh in or weight is not less than last week, otherwise gets released back to you. Need a shutdown clause as well.

can be done with the staking app

16:24:05
@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot <light>

(WIP)

16:24:23
@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot <darklight>

so these are the apps? https://mainnet.aragon.org/#/genesis.aragonid.eth/apps

16:25:08
@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot <light>

those are some in development apps, the staking app is here: https://github.com/aragonlabs/staking

16:25:58
@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot <darklight>

so basically you need to install all these app that make up the rules, staking would be for when a weigh in does not occur. Where is the oracle app?

16:33:59
@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot <lkngtn>

I think the active development on staking app s happening elsewhere, cc: @bingen

don’t see an oracle app https://github.com/aragonlabs/

@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot <darklight>

raise your hand if you think this is a good use case for aragon

16:38:54
@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot <lkngtn>

im not sure what you mean by oracle app?

16:41:17
@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot <darklight>

raise how many fingers on scale from 1 to 10, 10 is the hardest, are there alternatives that would be better suited

16:41:22
@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot <darklight>

I thought someone suggested an oracle app

16:41:59
@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot <lkngtn>

If you have a feature suggestion, I would recommend creating an feature request on github, or starting a forum thread to discuss it.

16:42:03
@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot <lkngtn>

I suggested that in order to accomplish the use case in mind there would probably need to be some sort of oracle interaction, or perhaps a general integration/extension of the permissions app to support permissions related to external data sources.

16:43:01
@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot <darklight>

I see, so there is no code to accept external data sources and what to do with it?
