josce | Hi,
for the past 24h Tusky has been telling me "a network error has occurred, please check connection" - whereas internet works normally for all other apps. I've tried several wifi networks, I've restarted Tusky and phone, and installed ntfy, to no avail. | 15:14:18 |
josce | Any idea what I could check? Thx | 15:18:24 |
connyduck | Does "other apps" include other Fedi Apps on the same instance? If no, I'd first check if the instance is up. | 18:01:07 |
connyduck | https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/29562 <- we should do this too | 18:01:35 |
josce | I tried to install Husky and Fedilab, they answered "unable to get client id" when I tried the several instances I have an account on... But then I can connect with the web app to them, doesn't that mean that they're up?
I was concluding that I didn't know how to setup fediulab or husky properly but that this was a distraction from my tusky issue... maybe not. | 18:04:43 |
connyduck | Yes, when it is accessible via web it should be up. Can you tell me the instance so I can check if there are any other problems? | 18:08:40 |
josce | Sorry was AFK. It's mastodon.gougere.fr | 19:30:13 |
everton137 | Yes, I can see the translation option in the web interface and also using Elk. | 20:04:03 |

everton137 | Download 1000009085.jpg | 20:04:17 |
everton137 | Maybe the tool Vivaldi Social uses has a different API for the actual code used in Tusky? (I didn't inspect it, that's just a guess) | 20:05:18 |
connyduck | Seems regular enough, I've requested an account to find out more | 20:25:15 |
connyduck | have you tried logging into tusky again? | 20:26:27 |
josce | You mean log out and back in? It warns me it deletes data, but I guess it's better than losing tusky! Trying | 20:40:41 |
josce | "Failed authenticating with that instance" | 20:41:19 |
josce | (I guess I don't need the leading https:// ? I did just mastodon.gougere.fr) | 20:41:46 |
josce | so it's consistent with Fedilabs and Husky not willing to connect. Is the connection over a kind of special protocol/port or whatever that my Android would have disabled? | 20:42:30 |
connyduck | Can you try "Login with Browser" from the menu on the Login screen please? Which browser is your main one? | 20:56:07 |
josce | Main browser is called lilo | 20:57:29 |
josce | When selecting "login w browser" I'm sent back to the same failure screen as when clicking "login with tusky"... | 20:58:28 |
josce | same reverting to Samsung internet as default | 20:59:46 |
josce | * same thing after reverting to Samsung internet as default | 20:59:58 |
connyduck | Ok the browser might be the issue here, can you try Firefox or Chrome just for the login? | 21:00:31 |
josce | will. Installing. | 21:01:14 |
josce | OK, installed FF, made default, closed the tusky app, opened again, entered "mastodon.gougere.fr", selected "Login with browser" ... but receiving "failed auth" | 21:04:14 |
connyduck | o_0 | 21:04:41 |
josce | (should I throw away the phone...?) | 21:05:15 |
connyduck | nah its probably something harmless, just hard to debug this way | 21:05:53 |
connyduck | When does the error message show up? Immediately? in the browser? In Tusky? Before or after entering credentials? | 21:06:57 |
connyduck | you are on the newest Tusky, right? | 21:07:05 |
