You need a number of people who donate their free time to maintain such a project. Not just once (that would be nice, though), but regularly. People who can effort to spend several hours each week are rare. I can tell you a thing or two about this, because I myself am a developer and maintainer of an open source project. It's much smaller than Mobilizon, but it still “costs” me at least 10 hours a week, often 20 or more. Free of charge, of course, and in addition to my 100% job. Sometimes I also want to have “real” free time and my family and friends must not suffer. Only a few people do that. And if it's a niche project like Mobilizon, which also uses a niche language like Elixir, that doesn't make it any easier. | 19:27:18 |

| baggis | I followed the install guide yesterday for "precompiled release". I had to install one extra .deb package postgresql-15-postgis-3-scripts. I then changed port 4000 to 4444 in config.exs and in nginx mobilizon.conf. It is now up and running on my TV PC here in my living room https://mobilizon.bergen.social/ | 11:19:20 |
