| Maximus | Directory search finds other people on the server, yes but that's not done by Identity servers. mxisd has extra features to can support it. Again, please read the docs fully and follow the links in the Getting Started.
Sending invites is not Identity server stuff. Identity servers store invites and send notifications about them. How those are resolved/handled is primarly handled by the Homeserver
