Jakob | * In the nginx-serverlog i see at this moment:
The peertube-Log says nothing about. | 11:31:58 |
tilllt | Peertube Usage question: I want to make a playlist of a longer (30min+) video, with several entries pointing to different parts of the video. I can set start and stop when i add the Video to the playlist, but since i cannot add it multiple times to the playlist, i cannot link to different parts of it. Am i missing something or is it not possible? | 11:35:23 |
Jakob | * but why i can not play videos from my peertube-instance? From other instances i can watch videos in the new app. Is it possible, that the app can not interact with peertube v7? | 11:36:12 |
Jakob | oh yeah... trying to watch videos from framatube.org also gives the "null" error... it's also von v7 | 11:37:45 |
Jakob | videos from https://skeptikon.fr/ work in the app.... it's on 6.2.1 | 11:39:00 |
inpc | Hello, I’m trying to watch videos on the new app on iPhone but every video I click comes with an error void message. Is it something my end? | 11:40:47 |
n4ta | In reply to @mxtthxwinpc:matrix.orgFrom my understanding, there are some instances which work and others that don't so far... Correlation is not causation, but so far it seems like instances in v7 do not work whilst outdated ones do... | 11:47:37 |
n4ta | In reply to @jakob:schuerz.atBesides skeptikon, makertube (6.3.3) also worked for me | 11:48:52 |
Jakob | on the new app? | 12:02:04 |
inpc | Yes on the new app, it happens with the recommended videos when I first open the app. I’ve yet to work out how to find my instance, just want to watch some videos first… I can’t watch the how PeerTube works vids on the app. | 12:04:49 |
Booteille | Hi! What app version are you using? | 12:05:25 |
n4ta | In reply to @jakob:schuerz.atAyup! But framatube doesn't | 12:37:27 |

coracle | In reply to @tilllt:matrix.orgIDK, but this Issue is named for that and doesn't seem to discuss it much: https://github.com/Chocobozzz/PeerTube/issues/4733 "Support internal playlist privacy setting" | 01:05:36 |
tilllt | In reply to @coracle:matrix.org As described in our use case here, I think the whole role/permission/ACL system could use a major overhaul. https://github.com/Chocobozzz/PeerTube/issues/6559 We are constantly running into problems atm because we need to use workarounds in publishing and accessing stuff that should be restricted to a certain user group. | 06:10:47 |

I think it's a general consideration: if peertube wants to be usable in the use case of hybrid internal / external video presentation platform (which is what most ngo's / universities etc need) it needs better access controls. If it mainly aims to be a public facing alternative to hosting platforms, the existing system probably is sufficient for most. | 06:18:42 |
