jforest | I wouldn't mind a techies thoughts on this qortal project. It sounds like they are really trying hard to address a lot of key issues.

barking bandicoot | Hello all! This Saturday at 2pm I will be hosting a TLC (Technology Liberation Community) meetup. This is a chance for us all to ask questions and discuss Libre Software solutions! I will introduce you all to Kmail! Many use the browser to access email, but a desktop application has advantages such as saving to pdf, making copies of important email and accessing contacts - especially if the internet is out! Be in possession and control of your data! Stay digitally sovereign! This will be a private meet! PM for details! Numbers limited. | 10:12:21 |
sparky75 | I would love to attend but I am hosting a Natural Lore workshop on Saturday. Next time ❤ | 10:42:05 |

Upgrade to Jammy Jellyfish
Hi all! As I have mentioned before, the current version of your OS, which is Impish Indri -22.10, (that is if I installed Kubuntu on your machine) reaches end of life on July 14th.
You will need to upgrade to Jammy Jellyfish - 22.04 within the next 5 weeks, if you wish to install anything and keep getting security upgrades.
The good news is you will get new goodies - and if you do not like upgrading then you will not need to do so for another 3 years. It is a LTS - long term support release.
If you do like upgrading to the latest and greatest then you can (and will have to thereafter) upgrade every 6 months.
I have previously suggest a group meet TLC for this. I now think this is not really practical. On my fast wifi it took over an hour for the upgrade. With other computers all simultaneously doing this on the same network also it can be expected to take a lot longer! It could become a very drawn out process! | 11:12:17 |
barking bandicoot | Here are the instructions to upgrade for yourself:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/JammyUpgrades/Kubuntu
This is fairly straight forward. Occasionally you will get a pop up asking if you want the latest or to keep you current config. It will generally say what the default to do is - which is keep your current thing.
It will also disable any ppa's. What does this mean? If I have installed extra software that is not in the Kubuntu repository, I may have done so by adding to the system a ppa. The ppa's will need to be re-enabled for that software to update. eg. Brave Browser.
I will add more on this later, so not to overwhelm here!
Good luck!
If it is all too much though then reach out!
Smiles!
