@florianduros:element.ioFlorian Duros 🦡The french on the screenshot looks like a poor translation 16:30:39
@enigma9o7:envs.netenigma9o7I would suggest the sender check their message in another client.16:31:52
@enigma9o7:envs.netenigma9o7IF the message only shows wrong in element, report a bug against element.16:32:05
@enigma9o7:envs.netenigma9o7I'd also confirm it happened in element-desktop (not just the website) incase its a browser extension related.16:32:21
@yankiara:matrix.orgYanOK thanks guys, it is indeed a translation issue. The sender just told me he had activated translation, and now that he logs in without, he sees the original message!16:32:27
@enigma9o7:envs.netenigma9o7great, it makes sense then :)16:34:44
@yankiara:matrix.orgYanYou're so right, I didn't even pay attention 🤣16:37:02
@yankiara:matrix.orgYanSo, since you seem to be very reactive, I have two other questions: 1/ Documentation mentions some option to accept people in a private room without invitation, just using a shared linked. Is it outdated? I can't seem to find it in the web or Linux app.16:42:17

16:42:22
@yankiara:matrix.orgYanIt seems people have to be invited, or else using the link leads to error message, like "you are not invited in this room".16:43:51
@x:bit.ovhMichael (t3chguy)
  1. you either create a public room and don't publish it to any server directory
  2. or you create a knocking room where anyone joining must be admitted by an admin after they request to join
16:47:41
@x:bit.ovhMichael (t3chguy)
  1. is in labs under "Enable ask to join"

@yankiara:matrix.orgYan2/ Every single member of our association has troubles with the red shield "or unable to decrypt" messages... This is a pain to convince people to adopt Element when we spend so much time understanding the security thing. Is there a rule of thumb to make it work easily and systematically? It seems that after logging out and in again, I lost all room history, then I created my backup key, everything came back to normal, but I to restore the backup in another device, don't know why.16:48:37
@rustemdunaev9:matrix.org@rustemdunaev9:matrix.org left the room.16:49:53
@florianduros:element.ioFlorian Duros 🦡Every time you logging, a new session is created. After you need to verify your session with another logged devices or using your recovery key16:50:43
@florianduros:element.ioFlorian Duros 🦡Otherwise in encrypted room, you'll lose the history16:51:02
@florianduros:element.ioFlorian Duros 🦡* Otherwise in encrypted room, you'll lose the history (unable to decrypt previous messages)16:51:33
@yankiara:matrix.orgYanOK, but even when all my sessions verified, one device could not decrypt messages... I had to generata a backup key to make it work (read it somewhere on a github issue).16:52:46
@yankiara:matrix.orgYanI wonder if we won't use a no-crypted room for this, as it is only talks about bikes, nothing critical ;-) I'm afraid people, especially the older ones, won't ever get a grip on this...16:53:56
@yankiara:matrix.orgYanOr does it implies other issues I'm not aware of?16:55:13
@yankiara:matrix.orgYan* Or does it imply other issues I'm not aware of?16:55:24
@florianduros:element.ioFlorian Duros 🦡Probably, using an uncrypted room is a better option for this use case16:55:45
@florianduros:element.ioFlorian Duros 🦡This device is element web, element android, element android x ?16:56:22
@yankiara:matrix.orgYanweb16:56:57
@florianduros:element.ioFlorian Duros 🦡In order to make this room history sharing, you have to create a key storage/backup. User settings -> security & privacy -> secure backup16:57:56
@yankiara:matrix.orgYanYes, that is what I did in the end and it worked :-) But for our association, I'm afraid I'll have to explain this hundreds of times and support every body having troubles, all the computerphobic, etc..... The non-crypted room seems the way to go for this. THANK YOU anyway for your great and lightning fast support! (Are there devs here or only powerusers/fans/support?)17:04:11
@florianduros:element.ioFlorian Duros 🦡Both17:05:50
@yankiara:matrix.orgYanThis is awesome! Thank you so much! Such a great piece of software, I'd be so happy that it could just replace WhatsTheFApp... Congrats to all devs and support here ❤️17:25:07
@thowzzy:matrix.orgthowzzy joined the room.18:55:10
