There is this nice opensource tool called nuBuilder (Forte is latest version) which I used to help someone I know - It is basically like MS Access on browser but for mariaDB / mysql backend
Have found another tool on similar lines and its based on Python and looks much more simplified and robust and has reasonable documentation too.. its called jam.py.

It provides a unified API with support for BlockDiag (BlockDiag, SeqDiag, ActDiag, NwDiag, PacketDiag, RackDiag), C4 (with PlantUML), Ditaa, Erd, GraphViz, Mermaid, Nomnoml, PlantUML, SvgBob, UMLet, Vega, Vega-Lite, WaveDrom... and it is in active development so more is on the way...
