Sidewalk Bitcoin | Yes. You want the lightning on regular phone for day to day use. Keep the Samourai for storage or main "savings" or hodling account | 17:53:40 |
harry_sync | OK this is starting to make sense now, thanks | 18:29:07 |
Sidewalk Bitcoin | Glad about that, takes a bit but then you fly. Here if you need us 😉 Be great if you give us an endorsement on your platforms or follow us on twitter @SidewalkBitcoin Cheers | 18:39:41 |
harry_sync | I shall. | 18:40:21 |
harry_sync | I'm kind of back to square one with phoenix acinq | 18:40:39 |
harry_sync | It's got all these options like new account or recovery phase and a whole bunch of others | 18:41:17 |
harry_sync | Or backup | 18:41:52 |
Sidewalk Bitcoin | New seeds etc for each wallet, often different words for same things ie seed words, seed phrase mnemonics phrase- all the same thing. Addresses in lightning remain same but Samourai gives you a new one every time for each new transaction... The seed phrases are needed to restore/ move to a new device etc. Passwords for access wallet, 2fa for security. Repeat each time for each wallet and store records clearly and separately and you should be ok. They all have their individual quirks. If you want to test out I'll give you my address, send a few sats and I'll return them straight away. Let me know | 19:04:48 |
harry_sync | In reply to @sidewalkbitcoin:matrix.orgI does that mean I need to restore | 19:55:12 |
Sidewalk Bitcoin | In reply to @harry_sync:matrix.orgNo, only when switching devices, then all those passwords and seed phrase is essential. All those stories about people searching tips for old computers etc are prob nonsense as all you have ever needed is those few phrases etc | 20:06:39 |
Sidewalk Bitcoin | Once setup it will become super easy. This initial setup plus the concepts is the only struggle really, after that it's all about accumulating, earning or transacting | 20:08:48 |
harry_sync | Thanks | 20:49:20 |
harry_sync | So I go into phoenix for 1st time , do I go to 'new wallet' or 'restore my wallet'? | 20:50:16 |
Sidewalk Bitcoin | In reply to @harry_sync:matrix.org👊 | 20:50:25 |
harry_sync | Sorry I mean in 'new wallet'. Do I go to 'back up my wallet' or 'set a pin'? | 20:55:47 |
Sidewalk Bitcoin | In reply to @harry_sync:matrix.orgSet up pin, store seeds then backup if needed. In breez they offer to backup after every transaction. Its worth doing from time to time for sure. In Phoenix in settings, security you can use biometrics if you prefer but still only pass and seeds. I see no backup options, I think its referring to recovery phrase and prompting you to write down seeds. Theres a little fear icon bottom left of screen | 21:13:37 |
Sidewalk Bitcoin | In reply to @sidewalkbitcoin:matrix.orgTypo... gear icon | 21:14:25 |
harry_sync | Thanks. Then what is next? Do I go to receive? | 21:47:44 |
Sidewalk Bitcoin | Once setup, that's it or are you wanting to perform a test transaction? | 21:54:00 |
harry_sync | For example, when I want to add some satoshis that I have bought from a machine/earned.. I will do that on phoenix? | 22:17:20 |
Sidewalk Bitcoin | If you want to, yes, for convenience and small amounts otherwise for storage send to Samourai if they're already "on-chain" and not in lightning. So paste receiving address into the the wallet you're sending from (or give address to sender) along with amount, hit send Or sometimes you send an invoice for payment to the receive counterparty, they fill in and send to you. Essentially you provide the address you want funds sent to one way or the other.. | 22:28:40 |
Sidewalk Bitcoin | Post your phoenix address and I'll send you some Sats it you like? | 22:29:42 |
Sidewalk Bitcoin | Your recieve address that is. No worries with security as its o public address and you need to give it if you want payment made... if that makes sense | 22:31:52 |
Sidewalk Bitcoin | In reply to @harry_sync:matrix.orgNew wallet | 22:33:07 |
Sidewalk Bitcoin | Restore my wallet is where you would have to answer seed word questions etc to use/install old wallet on new device | 22:34:53 |

harry_sync | I think that is it. Thanks so much. I was looking to share your page on Facebook but I can't find it. I don't have twitter | 22:51:45 |
Sidewalk Bitcoin | Could you screen shot the qr code image as that's not sending. Also double check it's the recieve address | 23:19:59 |
Sidewalk Bitcoin | That's saying unknown peer. Quick search says node not available. I've sent to myself and worked ok so double check it's a recieve address you sent me | 23:34:32 |
