Lincoln | sure thank you pdurbin | 18:24:30 |
poikilotherm | Oh another place where it might be neat to use the new dependency I'm introducing to parse TSV metadata Schema Files 🤑 | 18:36:04 |
pdurbin | Heh. I'm pretty sure we just use the same Apache Commons parser that we use for CSV. | 18:38:40 |
poikilotherm | Oh BTW pdurbin in the same go, I'm documenting the use of alternate values for CVV in the schemas. Those never made it into the docs for some reason | 18:38:57 |
pdurbin | Huh. Ok. Thanks! | 18:39:14 |

nightowlaz | hi all .. i realize this is prob a dumb question .. for aws s3 stores is it necessary to specify a custom endpoint url in the jvm config for direct upload? I've assumed the presigned-url is generated automatically from other parameters passed in the api call (or dvuploader, etc) but is it needed for anything else? we have them specified for our non-aws stores, but what about aws? 🙃 | 18:00:08 |
pdurbin | If you're using actual S3 from AWS I don't think you need it, based on my reading of the docs. I think it's more for it you have your own S3-compatible storage. | 18:02:58 |
nightowlaz | okay, that's what I thought, but having one of those days where i'm questioning everything! We have used dvuploader and the api with it and it works great, but i was just unsure if there was some other reason to have it .. and if so, what it should be! Thanks so much! | 18:04:14 |
pdurbin | A lot faster, I assume. | 18:04:46 |
nightowlaz | it is pretty fast, but I really need to do some comparisons with wasabi and isilon (if we ever get it working) to see the difference!
still haven't gotten that working, but we do finally have dell involved and assisting now, so hopefully soon ... | 18:06:02 |
pdurbin | that's good | 18:06:22 |
nightowlaz | thanks for all the help .. will report our success if it happens! :-D | 18:07:05 |
pdurbin | fingers crossed! | 18:07:22 |
nightowlaz | 😀🤞 | 18:08:00 |

poikilotherm | * Don Sizemore must be thrilled to bits about the GC optimizations 🥳 | 15:39:31 |
poikilotherm | I also like the new type branching very much. No more crazy casting 🤗 | 15:44:41 |
pdurbin | Should be fun to play with. | 15:57:46 |
poikilotherm | I'm excited to see IntelliJ propose code changes when switching the language level... | 16:04:25 |
poikilotherm | Still lots of places in Dataverse code that is Java 6/7ish | 16:04:49 |
poikilotherm | And amazing this still works 😊 | 16:05:06 |
poikilotherm | * And amazing this still works 😊 and is supported by the JDK, even if mixing | 16:05:30 |
pdurbin | Phew. | 16:07:22 |
