@jae:tedomum.net | Do anyone here know how to use gaps ? I tried but nothing too concluant | 12:36:31 |
@msiedlaczek:matrix.org | you mean for status bar? as in https://hackage.haskell.org/package/xmonad-contrib-0.13/docs/XMonad-Layout-Gaps.html ? | 13:15:11 |
@jae:tedomum.net | Yeah, this gaps I just want to add gaps around windows since it looks a bit nicer | 13:24:17 |
@jae:tedomum.net | But apart from the example that "leave gaps at the top and right", I haven't figured out how to use it properly | 13:24:44 |
@msiedlaczek:matrix.org | I haven't used gaps, I use https://hackage.haskell.org/package/xmonad-contrib-0.15/docs/XMonad-Layout-Spacing.html | 13:26:48 |
@msiedlaczek:matrix.org | tiled = renamed [Replace "Tall"]
$ spacingRaw True (Border 3 0 3 0) True (Border 0 3 0 3) True
$ ResizableTall 1 (3/100) (1/2) []
| 13:27:03 |
@msiedlaczek:matrix.org | which I have applied to each layout. so for example full layout won't have spaces around | 13:28:05 |
@msiedlaczek:matrix.org | https://www.reddit.com/r/xmonad/comments/gzkmz9/struggling_with_spacingraw/ftgralr?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x | 13:38:48 |
@msiedlaczek:matrix.org |
For some reason I don't see any changes from spacingRaw until I log out then in again, so try that if nothing seems to happen when you restart xmonad.
Same happens for me, so you might need to log out and back in
| 13:39:36 |
@jae:tedomum.net | The spacing is weird with xmobar | 13:44:08 |
@jae:tedomum.net | It overlaps on it | 13:44:16 |
@jae:tedomum.net | Oh, wait, found this on reddit avoidStruts $ spacing 4 $ Tall 1 (3/100) (1/2) And it works great | 13:47:25 |
@msiedlaczek:matrix.org | yep, that's what I use too | 14:29:48 |
@msiedlaczek:matrix.org | I also have a key binding
, ("M-s", sendMessage ToggleStruts)
| 14:30:42 |
@msiedlaczek:matrix.org | so you can hide the bar | 14:31:11 |

@solfisher:matrix.org | Is there a way to switch to the previous layout? It seems really odd to me that you can only go to the next one | 13:44:36 |
@msiedlaczek:matrix.org | apparently not so easy https://www.reddit.com/r/xmonad/comments/hn83kg/changelayout_message_previous/ | 13:51:20 |
@msiedlaczek:matrix.org | I never tried, I just use separate shortcuts for each layout | 13:52:05 |
@msiedlaczek:matrix.org | which I guess you could use for that. that is, you can create a list of layouts, and write your function that goes back and forth and then just calls sendMessage $ JumpToLayout "LayoutName" | 13:54:16 |
